You did 30 days of what?
Yep, you could say the last month's focus was on flexibility. But also, perfecting the perfect beach drink.
You may have heard me talk about hot yoga. Heck, I may have tried to get you to a class or two! Amy and I recently finished our 30-day hot yoga challenge at YogOdyssey. Wait, what? 30 hot yoga practices in 30 days? That sounds like a lot. For us, it’s a 40-minute round trip each time we attend a 90-minute class. That adds up to 65 hours of a commitment to yoga in a month. Why on earth would we do that?

Did you hear that The Running Man is being remade this year? The 1987 dystopian film starring Schwarzenegger was one of my favorite childhood movies.
Amy and I also watched The Gorge this week. A little action, a little horror, a lot of fun!
Bringing the Beach Home
One of the rum drinks we enjoyed at our Daytona Beach hotel’s pool bar was called Ube Bae Smash. It seems to be a twist on the Ube Bae from San Diego’s False Idol. We bought powdered ube, picked up a fresh pineapple and pineapple juice, and made some of this to celebrate July 4th.
Here’s how we made it:
2 oz coconut rum
1 Tbsp ube paste* or ½ tsp of ube extract
4 oz fresh pineapple or canned pineapple juice
1 oz coconut cream
lime (for garnish)
To make ube paste (it was more like a gel for me), combine 3 tablespoons of ube powder with 1 cup of water. Boil and then simmer until it’s a stiff gel or paste.
Blend all ingredients with ice and serve.

After having read The Running Man by Richard Bachmann (Steven King) and not even knowing about the movie until today (and watching the trailer for the 1987 movie), the book looks to be very different. Well worth a read.
